2015 Michigan Fantasy Football Trophies

Fantasy sports are as popular as ever, with over 41 million people playing in North America today. The number of players has consistently grown since 2005, except for a slight dip in 2009 due to the economic crash. Of all fantasy sports, football is the clear favorite by far, making up almost 70% of all fantasy sports.

The Money

It has become a multi-billion dollar industry that shadows most of America’s biggest businesses. According to at least one estimate, the fantasy sports industry amounts to up to a whopping $70 billion annually. This is more than the profits of all but the top two American businesses today (Cargill and Koch), and makes the NFL’s less than $10 billion a year look tiny.

Such, it’s true that the leagues have been trying for years to claim rights on the stats used in fantasy sports, with even MLB going to court and failing to secure royalty from fantasy sports. In line with the idea of “if you can’t beat them, join them,” the NFL now runs fantasy leagues on its own site.

The 2014 Season Ending

Detroit Lions

This really comes as no surprise since football itself remains the most popular sport in the country. NFL games consistently have the highest attendance in the world. Fantasy football, for its part, is hard to beat as a game. It is after all based on that same football that everyone loves, and lets anyone participate in a very real way to boot. It lets people do more than just watch those highly trained athletes on TV. You could even stand to win anything from simple bragging rights to $1 million and a private jet ride from The FanDuel Fantasy Football Championship.

Most leagues follow the actual NFL schedule, and we’re in the playoffs now with the divisional round coming in a few short days (January 10 and 11). The conference championships will be held on January 18, with the NFC game at 3PM Eastern Time on Fox and the AFC game at 6:30PM Eastern Time on CBS. The Super Bowl XLIX will be on February 1. There is also the Pro Bowl schedule a week before the Super Bowl.

The Prizes

As always, there has to be a winner, and there will be losers. As we head towards the culmination of the 2014 football season, fantasy football leagues across the nation join the NFL teams in anticipation of which team (whether fantasy or IRL), will emerge victorious. Whether your league plays for high stakes or just for fun, prizes always make the win more memorable.

A cup trophy, whether in gold or silver, will always be a classic for any sport or event. More than being a traditional type of trophy though, modern day champions – being the practical folks they are – like to fill it with beer and chug it or pass it around, so there’s that too.

Football medals are also popular, which can be bronze, silver, gold, or even colored. These can be given to all members of the league as a token of appreciation. Want to go all out? Why not let us make you an exact replica of this year’s Vince Lombardi trophy? That would surely make your league champion feel like he won the Super Bowl!

Let’s also not forget that this is still supposed to be about fun. So give a little something for the bottom team as well. Perhaps a bronze toilet trophy? Or a donkey in mid-kick, since, you know, he just got his donkey kicked this year (you know what I mean).
